The last time I covered a cake (the same size and shape) I felt like I had put too much bc under my fondant. This time I did a crumbcoat and I felt like it was too little.

How much bc do you put under your fondant?

My question would be what makes you think you put too much BC under the fondant? Was it oozing out?

When I crumb coat, I put it on just thin enough to cover the cake, but I can still see the cake a bit through it.

When I put it under fondant, I like to have it not quite as thick as you would when doing regular icing, but because I know most people remove the fondant, I do want there to be enough icing left to make the cake taste good after they have done that. I just take extra care with my fillings to create a good dam, to prevent any fillings from oozing out between layers and causing my fondant to pucker or bulge.
I hope this helps....

I put the normal amount on. Most people will take fondant off, and I hate skimpy frosting! If it's too much, they can take it off later; too little, and there's no adding frosting.

Thank you everyone!

I thought it was too muich because the fondant wasn't holding the quilting and it seemed like the bc was pushing it back out, but it could hve been my imagination.
