I tried doing chocolate transfers for the first time last weekend. I really like doing them and I'm wondering how do you get the exact color if you want to do different things with them?
Like, if you see in my photos, the superbowl cake that I did, I couldn't get a navy blue for the Bears helmet because I only had light blue candy melts.
I'm going to be doing a Blues Clues cake soon and would like to do all the characters in chocolate transfers...![]()
have you tried adding candy color (or icing color w/ Flo-coat) to the candy melts? for the Spiderman in my photos, i added royal blue to the light blue Wilton candy melts to get the darker color.
If I were going for Navy Blue, I'd start with the Royal Blue candy melts and sprinkle in some black powdered color.
As for making other colors...I keep white, yellow, red, blue and green on hand. I use the "wedding white" made by someone other than Wilton. Can't remember the company, but Hobby Lobby sells it. Anyway, if you'll use a color wheel, you can pretty much blend any color you're needing from these basic colors. Green really isn't a primary color, but since it's available, I cut out a step by keeping that one on hand, since it's available.
