I have this recipie for a

BAILEY'S CAKE

1 yellow cake mix
1 sm. pkg. instant Jello chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 c. oil
1 c. Bailey's Irish cream
1/4 c. water

Instead of using the instant jello pudding (I am assuming the powdered product) I have a cup of the ready made pudding. Can I use that?

I am sure you could, your cake will be more dense. I add sour cream to my cakes sometimes so pudding would essentially do the same thing. I would personally cut way back on the oil called for, there is no reason to use a whole cup of oil for one cake mix! Especially because it is already going to be dense enough with the pudding and the Irish Cream. Just my opinion.

I haven't ever tried it, but I would guess no, because it would mess up the liquid proportion. If you want to try it out for fun, than have at it. But if it isn't just to test out the cake I wouldn't. Just my opinion though.

Let us know how it turns out! I agree with freddyfl, it will effect the liquid porportions. When I add sour cream, I decrease the water called for.

I would think the "wet" pudding would upset the liquid balance. And 1 cup of oil is a lot of oil, 1/3 cup sounds more in tune with a cake mix. If you really want to try the ready made pudding you might reduce the liquid to 1/2 cup. Check the cake batter for texture and the amount of liquid before you pour it into the pans. You can add liquid but you sure can't take it away. Good luck.
