Calling All Ccer's From The Lafayette Louisiana Area!!!!

Hi fellow CC'ers!
DH finally decided on what job he wanted and decided to accept one at University of Louisiana @ Lafayette.
I am from NY, living in Boston right now, and have no idea about this area~~ specifically advice on where to live/buy a home.
My only experience with the general area is living in Texas for 5 years.
Anyone out there have any advice, please?!?!

I am from Lafayette, Louisiana. What will your dh be doing at UL? Are you also looking for work? How big of a house are you looking for and what amount of money do you want to spend on rent or for buying a house? Do you have children that need to be in school? What are their ages? Do you have animals? I know there are a lot of questions, but I am trying to narrow down where I can refer you to. I love Lafayette, I is big enough, but not too big. When will you be moving? If you need a contractor to build, I know of a few that are honest. If you need a realtor, I can suggest a few. If ya'll want to come scan out the location, with a weeks notice I can offer a place to stay. If you prefer a hotel, there is a new one 5 min. from the campus. Let me know how I can help.
