HI -- I am in need of a new website. Does anyone have web designer suggestions? The website is going to be very simple and basic so I don't want to spend tons of money. If you know of someone great and reasonably priced, will you let me know? Thanks!

I-page is very reasonable. You will first need to purchase a domain name. You can do a google search for I-page and you should be able to find the website.

Yahoo has resonable prices. You can set up your own Domain name for about $30.00 or go through there geocites thing. The one I have is about 8.00 a month I maintain it myself, it very easy. Its www.cakesbylameeka.com it's a little country looking, because I won't take the time to read all the instructions to make it do the fancy dancy stuff, but it serves the purpose.

I've done a few sites but have not worked on my own yet!
Check into your home internet provider. I have free site space within my internet account. It's not a real quick www. name, but its free.

I suppose I could afford to pay a monthy fee for a neat, easy to remember website address, but I'm too busy to pursue it right now and I'm actually AFRAID that by posting my cakes on the web, I'll get even busier and I don't want to say NO to anyone!

At any rate, I eventually will get it up and running if only to post pictures for advertisement - not to actually take orders from.

Good luck!

I used www.register.com and then you can use their webpage designer from there. It's a basic and relatively inexpensive way to start.[/url]

There are so many ways to go about starting up a website and most of it has to do with what functionality is necessary and what is the budget for the project.

For many people all they need is a basic brochure site. This consists of information about you, contact information, and maybe a portfolio.

A site like this can be achieve on a minimal budget and sometimes without the need of a professional designer. Of course hiring a pro will result in a much better looking site. These kinds of sites can be created using automated services from places mentioned above.

If you are looking for greater functionality such as the ability to take orders thru the site then you will need a professional designer for sure. You can also expect the price to increase dramatically for a setup like this. If you are going to create something like this it is a wise idea to put your project up for bid on a place like guru.com. There, programmers will send you bids based on the parameters of the project you specify. You then need to get references as well as a link to their portfolio.

It is very important you contact their references as well as examine their prior work to make sure they can do the quality of work you are looking for. There are alot of web designers out there and many of them over promise and under deliver. Do your due diligence or you are likely to be an unhappy customer at the end of it all.

I hope that helps, feel free to PM me with any other questions about shopping for your hosting and design providers.
