I just had a lady call and order one of these a couple hours ago. Maybe this bump will give us both some tips. Carving is not my forte.
I was wondering about doing one in gumpaste/fondant. I have to do a farm scene for a groom's cake in May & this guy wants like every animal imaginable on it - including the tractor!
The one in my photos with the haystack in front of it was made with the Wilton 3-D Train pan.............cut the smoke stack off and built up the part for the cab. Use RKT for the tires- HTH.
Wow that is super cute! That is something like I thought about doing with the little wagon on the back.
Thanks! I have done 2 more since that one and it is much easier the 2nd and 3rd times! Everyone loves this design- but I hate to repeat designs! LOL!

Is this the pan you used? How many servings do you get out of that?
Yep- That it! It held one batter- which usually yields 24 servings...........so by the time I carved it ...probably 20 or so. The cart was a 6" square- so if you needed extra servings you could use a larger pan for that............the haystack is cake too so you could use that for more servings (cupcakes). HTH!
Somethin-sweet, that's an amazing cake, hope you don't mind if I borrow your idea. My Hubby and Son would freak over that cake. Wonderful job!
Thanks so much!!! I need about 40 servings so adding a few more haystacks should work! =)
Heavens no- be my guest! I feel honored when someone likes my designs well enough to replicate. If you have any ??s feel free to PM me and I will do what I can to help. Thats what this site is for- sharing our ideas with fellow cake addicts!
Somethin-Sweet: Just wanted to share my grooms cake with you! Thanks so much for sharing how you did yours!! It was sooo fun to make..
Cute-cute-cute!!! I am so glad it worked for you! It looks better than mine-LOL! I can never get the green to be the right color but it looks like you nailed it- Great job!
It was so fun to make! I see another one in my future. My hands were John Deere green for a couple hours too..
