Hi. I'm a total newbie to cake decorating. Apparently there isn't a cake supply store nearby so I'm forced to search online for some ingredients. I want to try a new icing recipe. It calls for some things I can't find locally anywhere.
Brite White icing base
Apline or Sweetex shortening
Creme Bouquet flavor
Is there ONE website that can supply all of these ingredients for me? I'm having the hardest time tracking all 3 ingredients down. Global sugar only carries Sweetex and creme bouquet, sugarcraft carries Alpine and Angel white icing base... but where is the ONE website that has all 3 ingredients I need? Is it this difficult to find ingredients for cake people?
Hi and Congrats on your 1st post, lv14. ![]()
Luby might be able to help you locate some authentic Brite White icing base:

There are other icing bases out there:

(This thread has an interesting icing base substitution.)
Have personally tried both the Snow White and Brite White icing bases. If you can get it, the Brite White is so much better. (Brite White is like hi-ratio, while Snow White is like Crisco in relative performance.)
FYI, you can also purchase creme bouquet from www.nationalflavors.com
And to answer your question.. I haven't been able to find a single online source for all three products. ![]()
HTH
Can anyone explain what icing base is? I understand the various shortening types but see icing base mentioned in recipes and don't know what that is. Thanks
