For those who need a visual for how to make a basic(most common of the gumpaste variety anyway) orchid, I found a video series(6 short ones) on how to make them. The video lighting is not best nor is the output(?) but the basics are definitely there.
It starts with this one and goes through to part 5(actually the 6th video)...
