Hi all!
I'm making a cake for a very good friend of mine and her fiancee for their Christmas dinner with her family, and they want the theme to be pretty and romantic, but also Christmasy, to celebrate their first Christmas together....it's going to be a 6" round cake, but I have no idea how to decorate it! Maybe some rosettes or rose buds?? She told me if I do any roses to only do a few...she's seen what it takes to make them, fortunately
Please help me!! She wants the cake next week...
Not trying to change your mind, but I think a single large poinsettia or variation of choice (fondant) would be lovely for Christmas:

And although, red, is the typical color for poinsettias, I'm rather partial to the white and mauve.....

How about white buttercream covered in tiny cornelli lace (also white) and and just some holly leaves and berries in the center. You could put some tiny holly leaves and berries every so often around the border.
Or, white buttercream with white cornelli lace covering it and in the center of the cake put an ice cream cone christmas tree (pointy ice cream cone turned upside down and then use a leaf tip to add the leaves). You could decorate the tree in white bead garland and colored lights and larger beads for ornaments. Maybe put a scalloped "skirt" under the tree with gold cornelli lace. You could pipe a couple of small presents by the tree with their initials on them.
Thank you soooo much for your help! I'm leaning more towards the poinsettia idea, but I'll lay all of the ideas before her and let her decide. Again, thanks! you gals and guys are the best!!!
