Hello there, I need some advice. I want to make fondant figures for a birthday cake for this Saturday. I'm making them out of gumpaste mixed with fondant and need to know how long does it take for it to dry completely before I can display them on the cake
I made a crown the other day, and it would stand up on it's own by the next day. I did add a couple of teaspoons of gum tex to it which helped alot. Usually when I just use MMF, it takes a few days.
Thanks for the quick response! So when you added gumtex, did it make it more flexible, or just harder. Another thing I wonder, can you start on a figure, can you put it away and continue it the following day, or do you have to do everything at one time?
It did make it more pliable, but it also dried faster, but it did not dry too fast that I think you could do parts of it at a time, say adding arms and legs to a body.
I live in Louisiana and it is very humid! Saying that I also use Satin Ice Fondant and I can make figures and even loops for my bows and they hold their shape in a couple of hours. I have made elephants and giraffes and they stood up. I put them on the cake two days later. they traveled 20 miles with no problem.
