No I told my SIL that I would ship the decorations I make not a cake. Seems to risky and expensive. Good luck and I will give it a BUMP. See if anyone else has an idea.

The only way I know is to freeze them and send them frozen in dry ice in order to keep them from tearing up. I would say putting them on non slip liners to make sure they stay put in the carton. you can also send them with a carrier that is experienced in transporting food. I don't know about fedex but I would never use UPS for this. They ruin most everything I ship that is not suppose to be easily breakable.

Have you shipped one, if so can you tell how exactly you packed it. Also who you used to ship it or how you would find who to use? I know I am asking alot of questions but just in case it comes up. I think it would be really expensive though, No?!

I'm going to be shipping a 6 inch chocolate cake (heart shaped) covered in Fondant to Texas in February for my friend's daughter. I'm planning on overnighting it. I'll wrap it in plastic wrap, use ridiculous amounts of bubble wrap, so that even if the cake is turned upside down there will be absolutely NO shifting. I'm nervous, but I'll do my best.
