Adding Pudding To Cake Mix Question
Decorating By simplysweetcakes Updated 7 Nov 2006 , 1:21pm by doleta
I just got done baking a White Chocolate Cake that started out with a white cake mix, a box of instant pudding and white chocolate. The cake turned out great I am wondering if you can add a box of instant pudding to any cake mix? If so, is there a rule for the other ingredients (eggs, oil, water, etc...) or do you just follow the instructions on the cake mix? Any ideas???
If there is already pudding in the mix, it is usually unadviseable to add more. I have never memorized the reason why, but I know I have read it more than one time on this forum.
Otherwise, all you do is add the regular ingredients, according to the package, and bake as usual.

There is a recipe on this site for cake mix extender. It calls for the pudding, and I think 1 extra egg and sour cream, oil is the same I think (can't remember). I have used it pretty much exclusively when doing doctored cake mixes, and they all come out yummy...moist and delicious. For chocolate cakes I have read to add chocolate chips also. I did it once and it was excellent.

I have addes pudding to cake mixes that already contain pudding and have had no problems. And other people on here have also. along with the pudding, I add 1 cup of sour cream or yogurt, 4 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup water or other liquid and then bake according to package directions.
New to decorating, but not baking.
I love all of the Cake Mix Doctor's books.
She gives great ideas for add-ins.
I use her ideas to spawn my own.
