I have looked, but couldn't find any threads on how to make fondant figures.Does anybody know any tips for me ?

Do I use MMF or store bought ?

Do I add gumpaste or not ?

This will be my first attempt at trying to form a figure, so any help or tips would be great.

I know that someone can help, because there are some awesome figures out there.

Thanks in advance for all of the replies, that I know I am going to be getting. thumbs_up.gif

If you really want to learn to do figures, you should PM Aine2 and talk to her about her tutorials. She is a genius and is very willing to work with people. She is an amazing source for this type of thing!

Aine2 is a real inspiration. Every time I see one of her cakes it makes me want to improve my work.

I agree that the scuply clay books can be very helpfu. The 1st one I purchased is titled "The Sculpy Way". It gives you the basics for the shapes you need to start with and good instructions for making characters. I started modeling last Christmas and have fallen in love with it. I feel like each time I make a cake I improve from the time before. Just start with something simple and work your way up from there. I had a friend pick up a froggy cake this morning and I'm already planning my next project.

Good luck, it just takes time, patience and practice. And alot of helpful advice and encouragement from everyone on CC doesn't hurt either!!! thumbs_up.gif

I love making figurines! I use fondant with all my figurines and use a product here called Cellogen which is a powder that you add to the fondant to make it dry hard quicker.. (Im sorry Im not sure what you would use) But it really depends on what type of figurine that you would like to make..
I make alot of bride and groom figurines and people... but I have made alot of other types too.. Please PM or email me if you are stuck and need some help
