when i make 3D figures out of fondant or anything I always have these creases in them that I can't get out, like when I make a ball for the head, i rub it with shortening and it still doesnt come out?
Also how do you roll a string of fondant in equal size like when you want to make a border around the base of a cake? I always get finger impressions on it.
thank you
I don't know about the figures, but for the border, I got a Play Doh toy that yo press out the fondant into three or one strings. Hope that helps!
when making pearls.........I roll out a piece of fondant making sure it's an even thickness all the way through......then I cut the fondant out in circles using the back of one of my decorator tips then I have perfectlly equal amounts of fondant....then I just roll each into a ball.......when you get creases it helps to rub a little crisco over it.....sometimes it takes them away completely sometimes it just hides them if they're deep creases. Hope that hleps
If u get creases when rolling a ball it means ur fondant is too dry, try adding a little shortening to the paste.
As for the strings I use my fondant smoother to roll them. No fingermarks and very even string!
When I make the rope for my military cakes I use my fondant smoother to roll them out. I just "jiggle" the smoother back and forth while moving it along the rope. It rolls it and stretches it at the same time. I just use one smoother to do that step. I start the "sausage" roll out with my hands and then use the smoother for the rest!
As far as creases, the only thing that has helped me is to rub a little Crisco into the fondant and then roll it between my palms or on the counter.
