I would like to do these for the holidays, however it seems that the recipies I found differ a little on the cake/filling flavor combinations. Now is a traditional "yule log" a yellow sponge with chocolate filling, or is it chocolate sponge with mocah filling, or is it yellow sponge with mocha filling? Am so confused!

Well, apparently I'm no help at all! I thought you meant an actual log you put in the fireplace that will burn all kinds of cool colors! My stepdad used to make them for Christmas time and they're really cool, but I don't know how to make those either. icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

I'll take a nap now! I was up until 12:30 this morning cakin'. I wonder if my boss would mind.....he's not here icon_twisted.gif

It's whatever you want it to be. The one I last year was chocolate sponge cake with mocha filling and whipped chocolate ganache icing. I think the icing is what makes it look real. I've seen some done with white icing and they don't resemble a log very much! icon_eek.gif

The cake is in my posted pictures.
