Hello Everyone!! I just had a couple of questions...I decided to do a baby bag for a baby shower and I saw this cute one online (see pic below) I just wanted some opinions on it. I am doing it lying down like the pic, cause I am using a carrot cake and it is super moist and I dont think that I can do it standing up.....anyway I just wanted to see If I should do it in buttercream with fondant accent or do the whole thing in fondant. I know the fondant would give it a nicer look, but not too many people like it. So I guess I am leaning towards the buttercream icon_confused.gif If I do that Should I do fondant C's or can I use the food markers on crusting buttercream (i have never tried that) ????? Also if anyone out there has the template for the C's could ya send it to me please???? thumbs_up.gif Thanks soooo much!

I would do it all in fondant and decorate it with food markers. If you have a fondant recipe you can refrigerate, I'd use cream cheese frosting, only b/c I think it pairs so nicely with carrot cake.

Good luck!

Just an FYI:

Using Food Markers on BC is not the best idea. You run the risk of puncturing the crust on the BC which in the long run will make your outcome look sloppy.

I would do the C's in fondant and then color those with the food markers. Or if you have an airbrush, I would airbrush the BC.

BUT, the best look of course would be to do the whole thing in fondant.

Good luck, can't wait for the pics.

Yep...fondant and you could either paint is w/ color and vodka or lemon extract mix, or use food markers or last but not least...airbrush...that would be nice. I can't wait to see it!!

More people will eat the fondant if you use anything other than wilton. I make my own using toba's or michele foster's from here. Or you can buy satin ice, pettinice (sp?), or others....

I would go with i_heart_pastry and do cream cheese icing covered in fondant and scribble with the markers. Here is a template I made. Not sure if it's good enough, but it may help.
