Hello all. This will be the first time I need to purchase colored fondant. I need to make a skunk cake for 50 and need about 5lbs. of black fondant. (not even going to attempt coloring it myself ![]()
) And about 5lbs. of red fondant for a classic 1967 chevelle. Does anyone have a supplier or web link to a supplier with reasonable prices??? I have found prices as low as $19.99 & up to $35.00. The lower of the two requires a minimum order of $50 and will only ship to commercial locations. I would like to put through an order no later than tomorrow. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
TIA ![]()

Dont know where your located, but Global Sugar Art is a quick shipper and they have reasonable prices. If I need something next day I go with Pattycakes in NY. If you try to order from Satin Ice directly, you will have to order in mass quantities. This is a good thing for a commercial baker but little guys like me cant afford to use that much at one time.
I have bought from Pfeil & H. I cant say anything bad about them. Only ordered there once. But I think their prices were kinda high.
Cakes by Sam were ok, but you have a surcharge on your shipment. Sugarcraft is slow at getting your order out and their customer service is lacking but they have good prices. Your best bet is Alan over at Global. Nice man, easy to deal with, and will bend over backwards for you.
I use Satin Ice exclusively. Although they do like for you to order a case, they have shipped small quantities to me, and they will assort a case. A case for the 5 pound buckets is four, and I have gotten two, or a half case. They are really nice people. Is there anyone in your area that could split an order with you? Also, unopened it wll last for more than a year, so plan ahead. I love having an assortement of colors right on my shelf.
Into the Oven has good prices, the best I found when looking for 20lb white Satin Ice. www.intotheoven.com

I only use Satin Ice and I ordered from here. The service was excellent and delivery was very fast. They charge 21.99 for 5 pounds.
cake deco is a couple dollars cheaper than intotheoven.com BUT their shipping is higher.
i definately recommend www.intotheoven.com for satin ice. i use them all the time! they are lightening speed fast. i order and recieve it within 3 sometimes 4 days - by regular ground mail. you can buy the 2 lb containers for about 10ish and the 5 lb containers for less than 20$. when i order the 20lb containers, i pay only 11 for shipping. its an excellent deal, and you cant beat the shipping. they've got all kinds of colors too.
Into The Oven - best place to get it. Very fast and friendly. They offer small bucket, which I need for my cookie decorating, and large for cake stuff. They also sent me discount postcard for my future purchases.
Hello all! Well I placed my order on Tuesday with Pfeil & Holing. I e-mailed satinice directly and they directed me to P&H since I live in New York. I received 2 5lb. buckets of Satinice fondant(19.95 ea.), 6 half sheet size silver cake drums 1/2" thick(19.90) and 2 grams of silver luster dust.(2.25). Like a previous cc er mentioned you place the order and are charged shipping after delivery. I pulled off the packing slip but it did not show the tax & delivery charges. In NY tax is 8.625 and according to some handwritten numbers I think the shipping was $19.00.
Does the shipping seem about right for the above mentioned merchandise and delivery in 3 days??
I know this is a bit off topic, but how much cake would a 2 lb. bucket of fondant cover?
Thanks in advance,
Holly
I order my satin ice through CK Products. It is $43 for a 20 lb bucket, $12 for 5 lbs and $5.40 for 2 lbs. You do need to establish a business account with them...but it is way worth it. You also have to place a minimum order of $100 with them...but I usually don't have a problem doing that... ![]()
If I need fondant quick, I order through Pheil & Holing, they are much quicker, but a bit more expensive!
