I am making a cake for a bridal shower on the weekend and just wondering how I make ribbon roses as I think in her case it would be so much prettier than the fondant roses. I am still planning to make these in fondant though - just different shades of pink. Thanks

I just cut i strip of fondant and rolled it up, sort of at an angle...They are very easy. Then I squeeze the bottom together and you can make some little fondant leave to go with them.

Ribbon roses are very simple. You roll out a piece of fondant about 2 x 4 inches, quite thin. You fold it lenghtways. So you end up with a piece of fondat that is 1 x 4 inches.
Then you grab one end and start rolling, and when you do the whole thing you pinch the bottom.
They will look something like this

hope that helps

thank you so much for your help - do I need to add anything to the fondant to make them stiffer or will they be fine on their own?

Not really, if you do them like i said, they will stand on their own with no problems
