my recipe is pretty much the same, but I use equal amounts of flour, shortening and oil. It make it much easier to remember and I dont' have to do the math if I need just a small amount. - i.e., 1/2 cup of each, or 1/4 cup of each, or 1 cup of each ingredient.

Do ya'll like the pan grease better than the flour/oil sprays that are available, such as Baker's Joy or the Crisco one?

Also, how long does it keep and how do ya'll apply it?

Thanks, I've always wondered.....

I make the pan grease up in a mason jar and put it in frig, use it till its gone and make some more. so much more economical than buying the spray stuff and no chemical smell.

Also i use a silicone pastry brush to coat the pans

Run it through dishwasher when done works great!

Exactly as Red does. Ditto to all.

sooo much better than greasing and flouring, easy and works better

Sounds pretty easy, guess I'll be trying it when my spray runs out! I'm glad to hear about the keeping it in the fridge, I wasn't sure.

I have tons of mason jars, so this may be a way to put one to good use!

Thanks for all the info.

Here's another recipe for it.

1-1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup Oil
1/4 cup flour

Mix well, store in airtight container. Does not need refrigeration.

I have heard both ways. That it needs refrigeration and doesn't. I always figure better to be safe than sorry so I refrig. I like the consistency better that way to, its thicker.
