I am thinking of buying a scale and start weighing my ingredients instead of the measuring. I was just wondering if everyone agreed that weighing is the best way and what type of scale do you use?

I use a scale, can't remember the brand....it measures down to a gram, has a tare button. I love it, and use it whenever I bake.

When I took my Decorating Class, all of our recipes had to be weighed on a scale. The Chef explained that it's a much more accurate way of measuring, plus there are no measuring cups to clean up. I am thinking of buying a scale as well, but where do you get recipes with weight measurements?

The tare button will reset the scale to zero while something is on it. You can put your bowl on the scale, reset to zero, measure your first ingredient, reset to zero, measure the next ingredient, etc. It reduces the amount of math you have to do, and makes it easier to use.

I have a scale that I love, I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond. It has the tare feature, will weigh in either ounces or grams, and also has a liquid measure feature which I haven't quite figured out, but if I need a half cup of liquid, I can measure that directly with the scale instead of having to use a measuring cup. I think that will be especially handy for measuring vegetable oil and things like that, without getting a measuring cup greasy.

Laura.
