Does anyone know how to do a sugar glaze image? I have seen them on some cakes and I really like the way they turn out.
Thanks Audrey

I've not heard of them, but they sound very interesting! Anyone know how to do them?
tripletmom, that is awesome!!
How did you do it?! If you don't mind telling! ![]()
I think what you are talking about is often called run-in-sugar. It's a mixture of powder sugar, water, and corn syrup that is colored. You outline your image in buttercream, then flood in the sugar mixture (like you would a color flow piece).
Run-in-sugar is done directly on the cake and while the sugar mixture will dry some, it is still cutable and does not dry hard like color flow.
Recipe for Run-In Sugar:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp light corn syrup (called Karo in the US?)
enough water to make it 'run' but not 'runny'
You just need little amounts to do your run-ins. I coloured about 1 tsp at a time and put them into snack bags. When I needed the colour I snipped a tiny corner off and used that. Makes clean-up a breeze.
