Doctored Cake Mix Help!!!

i have been doctoring cake mixes for awhile, usually regular grocery store duncan hines, by adding pudding, etc.

i want to try using the bulk cake mix from restaurant supply stores. generally, these are "add water and youre done" type mixes.

does anyone use these and have tips on how to doctor them?
ive had a few that turned out terribly when altered.

I tried this a few times, but it was never good. It's pretty dry and bland. I think it needs some oil, and a simple syrup. For sure add some eggs!
