I need your help how much you will charge for a wedding cake 3 or 4 tier
wedding cake. I gave a price she thought that was to much. 2.90 a slice.
I know you don't want to go over or under.
It depends on the design, fondant covered, bc covered etc.. but I think most ppl here would say that 2.90 is too low. It also depends on your area and how much others are charging.
I'd say it's low... but I start cakes at $5/serving. What is the decor of the cake like? Fondant? Do you know how much it costs you to make your cakes per serving?
Buttercream starts at $3.00 per serving...and I charge by the serving, not by the tier.
Thanks, for your help, she didn't want to pay that much. She need wedding cake for Nov 28th.

Trust me, if you aren't getting paid at least enough to cover your ingredients and time it isn't worth it! There are a lot of cheap brides out there, but please don't sell youself short
I was a caterer many, many years ago (even landed a small snippet in Bon Appetit Magazine) and recently a young woman, a new up and coming caterer and cake decorator called saying she just could not attract customers willing to pay her prices, so she was going to lower her prices. My challenge to her was to locate customers willing to pay her asking price and if that meant moving outside her comfort zone, so be it. She fought me tooth and nail and did not want to consider corporate gigs, custom jobs, event catering or specializing in unique food preparation e.g. raw foods, vegetarian foods, low impact sugar projects etc.
We went back and forth all the while she is wasting precious time, energy and losing potential customers. Finally I told her to do what she must but until she committed to moving outside her comfort zone, thinking outside the box, looking at the bigger picture, taking risks and stop believing that the status quo is good enough she would keep getting what she was gettingwhich was "cheap" customers. I know everyone is tightening their belts and trying to get the biggest bang for their buck; the bottom line is "quality cost", it's not cheap and it's not abundant. You get what you pay for. Advertise in upscale areas, market to individuals and organizations that appreciate quality and will pay for it. Remember insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

you mean like two and a half weeks away? either she let it stupidly late, her caker bailed, or she got chucked!
never mind what you charge (as a basic price, without knowing YOUR costs and location it sounds ok), just be sure to add in the last minute charge, and full cash payment now!
xx
