Hey Y'all!! I have a couple of quick questions for y'all:

1) Does anyone know where I can purchase one of those spiffy silver bases for a wedding cake? The real fancy ones?

2) If you are doing a wedding cake with mousse filling, would you charge more? And also does it need to be refrigerated?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!! icon_biggrin.gif

I would check ebay for the cake plateaus. They are a bit pricey, but you could recoup your cost renting them out. Yes, I would charge a little more for the mousse fillings and depending on what it has in it ( like cream) it would need to be refrigerated.

Here's a website I have bookmarked: http://www.weddingcakestands.com/

(I'd LUV to have that $445 tiered set of these, but it's not in my near future!)

I just bought an 18" round one via eBay for $65. I have this item flagged so I get an email every time a new listing pops up. If you search eBay, do the search using "Cake Plateaus" and search using "Silver Cake Stands" because some listers are not aware we call these "plateaus".

Wow! Those are some great links! A bit pricey but very beautiful stands! Let me ask this: I'm doing a wedding cake in Sept. She wants four tiers so the bottom tier I'm making 14 inches. I'm thinking a 16 inch stand is fine -- or should I go larger? What do you think?

A 16" stand would work fine, but I think if you're going to invest the money to go ahead and get the 18". That gives you a nice wide edge to place florals or any other decor.

P.S. I'm so excited! My silver champagne fountain (also sold on one of the above links) arrived today! These are $600-700 fountains and I got one from eBay for $285! I use these for punch at weddings. What a find! party.gif
