Wow ... that's a lot of buckeyes!!! I recently had to make 200 for a wedding, and I thought that was a lot!! I charge $12 per pound for buckeyes, and I get about 25-30 good sized buckeyes in each pound. Do you have to put the buckeyes in the goody bags? If so, definitely charge extra for that ... it will take more time than you think it will. I had to put each buckeye in a small clear plastic box and tie a red ribbon around each box, and it took me HOURS. Good luck!! ![]()
Peanut butter candies - basically a peanut butter ball (pnut butter, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar) dipped in chocolate, leaving a circle of the peanut butter at the top to resemble a "buckeye" - which is kind of like an acorn or nut type thing. Ohio State football players are The Buckeyes.
Where in TN are you? I'm in the Memphis area.
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help! Since I live in OSU Buckeye country, I get lots and lots of orders for buckeyes. ![]()
Hi Ladies:
A coworker of mine brought to the office some buckeyes that her Mom sent her, They were so good, but she doesn't have a recipe.
Do you mind sharing your recipe?
TIA

Here's the recipe that I use (I just posted it in the Recipes section, but I'm not sure how long it will take to show up there):
18 oz. creamy peanut butter
1 lb. (3 cups) powdered sugar
1/4 lb. (1 stick) unsalted butter (room temperature)
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 cube (1" x 1") paraffin (optional --- may substitute 1 tbsp. shortening)
Blend together the first 3 ingredients. Roll into chestnut-sized balls. Insert a toothpick into the center of each ball. Freeze for at least one hour.
In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips and paraffin (or shortening). Dip balls quickly into chocolate mixture, coating about 3/4 of each ball. Put on wax paper. Remove toothpicks and smooth out the hole (left from the toothpick) with your finger. Let the balls set up on the wax paper until the chocolate has hardened.
They are easy to make and so yummy! ![]()
