Hello! I need to make some homemade pan grease? Does it call for flour?

Does the pangrease that Wilton makes also has flour in it?

Thanks.

The homemade has equal portions of flour, oil and crisco.

I don't know what is in the Wilton version.

The pan grease that I was given by my Wilton instructor is
1 1/4 c. solid Crisco
1/4 - 1/3 c. flour
1/4 c. veg. oil

It is the only thing that I have ever used, and it works great! Good luck to you!

This may be a dumb question, but how do you use that stuff? Do you just mix it all together? How do you store it?

1 C flour
1 C Crisco
1 C oil

Mix together with a stand mixer or hand mixer until smooth and incorperated.

I store mine in a tupperware container in my pantery. When you go to use it give it a quick mix as sometimes the oil tends to want to seperate a little and spread on the pan with a pastry brush.
Best (and cheapest) thing I have ever used, I have never had a cake stick.

Yes, The Wilton Cake Release does have flour in it. I use Baker's Joy and Crisco Baking Spray as well. They are GREAT! No sticking to the pans here!

Thank you so much for the replies.... icon_smile.gif

I have to make a cake for a little girl that cannot eat flour and was wondering about the pan grease and the Cake Release by Wilton. Since they both have flour, I am going to have to use wax paper for the bottom of the pan and then regular Pam spray.

Thanks again everyone!

I need to make some of that pan grease at home. Sounds great!!! thumbs_up.gif

insted of using wax paper I would use parchment paper. It wont leave a waxy taste to the cake and it is impregnated with silicone so it wont stick to the cake or the pan. IMHO

Ooops! icon_redface.gif Sorry, that's the one I meant to say... parchment not wax! Thanks!
