Customer wanted a 3 tier baby shower cake replicated from another cake they saw. I think more detailing could have been done, but it's all about what they wanted. The colors in the picture didn't show to well, but its a baby blue and brown cake. I had 3 cake orders to turn around within 24 hours and ran out of frosting, so I used melted chocolate for the letters. All butter cake - 10" filled with bavarian, 8" filled with chcoolate, 6" filled with strawberry. Ganache under fondant (still trying to perfect) THIS WAS MY FIRST 3 tiered cake job. I used straws for support.
This was a "cakmergency" order received with one needing a puppy paw cake for a birthday party...the order was a 12 hours turnaround. Basic chocolate cake with buttercream filling and frosting. They wanted a cake that resembled a puppy paw with bones.
Customer request a luau themed baby shower cake...a design that didn't scream "baby shower". I decorated the cake based upon the invitation card. The bottom tier is 3 layers of vanilla cake filled with white chocolate ganache and strawberry. The top tier is just cake and ganache. I covered in ganache before applying fondant. Gum paste/fondant (50/50) decorations.
Made to order cake for a wife's birthday/mothers day. Fondant roses handmade and I wasn't able to place all the roses on the cake due to timing constraints. I have posted a picture of my first attempt which was unsuccessful and then the final recovery.
