Cowboy Theme Cake
Cowboy theme cake for a friend who was turning 40. The "hat" is a carved cake (three or four layers of chocolate cake) carved in the form of a hat. Covered in antique white Fondarific fondant. The hat's rim was made days in advanced combining gumpaste and fondant. The tiered cake is carrot, with creamcheese buttercream and covered in fondant.

Teddy Bear Baby Shower Carrot Cake
Cake I made for my friend's baby shower. The whole design was my friend's idea as well. All cakes are carrot cake with a cream-cheese crusting butter-cream that I used for crumb coating the cakes as well as filling between the layers. All the cakes are covered in white fondant, all the cut outs decorations are made of fondant as well. It was a LOT of work, but I am so pleased with the results. My friend was very happy with the cakes. The themes were teddy bears and balloons. The teddy bear sitting on top of the bigger cake was made with fondant that had a bit of gum tex on it.

Easter Basket
This is a cake you can find at Wilton's website. The cake is basic vanilla with a cream filling. The handle was made with gum paste, as well as the bow. The cake is covered in white fondant. The "eggs" on top are sugar cookies covered with butter cream which I dyed in several colors and I also used butter cream to attach a toothpick to the back of each cookie. The cake called for a pink three-wave swag thingy but I decided to go for one. My skills are not up there yet. The leaves and eggs around the cake were made of fondant a couple of days before that I let dry so they could get hard. This was my first time working with gum paste, and it was a learning experience. Everybody loved the cake and at the end of the party there was nothing left! :) More pics on how I did it can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/yh4u9fb

First Time Using Fondant
I have never taken cake classes but I love baking. But I'm worthless at decorating with buttercream, so I decided to learn using fondant. This little cake was my first attempt at making fondant from scratch (found a great recipe) and my first attempt rolling it and covering a cake. Nothing fancy, just a gal practicing with MM fondant.

Twilight Themed Cake For My Niece
I am not a Twilight fan but my niece loved the movie and she asked me to bake her a Twilight themed cake so Auntie complied. Instead of doing the chess board, I played with the idea and the colors. The top tier is a basic cake of vanilla flavor with cookies and cream pudding for filling. The bottom tier is chocolate cake with same filling. I used red and white M&M's for decoration on both cakes. The cupcakes are red velvet and cookies and cream cupcakes topped with vanilla icing, black sprinkles over the red velvet cupcakes and Oreo cookies over the cookies and cream. The "apple" and chess piece are made of fondant. The letters are made of black fondant. To make it "Twilight" I stuck that picture on top. The cake was a success and my niece loved it.

Valentine's Treats For My Niece's Class
My niece has asked me to bake her Valentine's treats for her class/ her birthday (on the 12th, which was a Friday this year). So Auntie complied. Thanks to some ideas from here, I baked red-velvet cupcakes. I used buttercream frosting (conveniently white), and top with a pink heart made of fondant, which I made the day before. My niece loved them and couldn't wait to show her classmates.

Birthday Cake For My Father-In-Law
Birthday cake I made for my father-in-law's 86th birthday. He loved it! The cakes are chocolate cake with vanilla pudding. The fondant was made from scratch, and I was playing around with some cookie cutters I've recently bought. Was told by sister-in-law that my f-i-l didn't want to cut it. Said it was too pretty to eat.

Flower Fondant
My first try at making flowers with fondant. I decided to use Wilton's ready made fondant for the flowers. The fondant covering the cake I made it from scratch. It was an exercise really, but I think the results were worth it, and my co-workers loved it. The piping work needs more practice though.

Castle Cake Arantza
The finished cake I made for my niece Arantza's 8th birthday. I followed Wilton's idea for a princes cake, but I made the turrets myself instead of buying the castle kit. (which was a good idea because my niece is not in the princess phase anymore). The turrets are made of foam, paper and cupcakes paper cups. The tops are covered in buttercream and edible purple sprinkles. The cakes are very simple: top cake is chocolate with a cream filling and the bottom is vanilla with chocolate pudding filling. The cakes are covered in fondant, with little flowers made days in advanced out of fondant in the edges. It was my first time piping stars all over the place as well. Overall, took me a couple of days to complete. But the look on my niece's face was worth it.
