Civil War Kepi
My husband & I are Civil War reenactors. I wanted a father's day cake that would reflect his love of the hobby. This cake is supposed to resemble his hat (kepi). The cake is 6" round, 2 layer french vanilla with almond buttercream and strawberry filling. Covered in gray SI fondant. The strap and bill are chocolate SI fondant. To make it shiny, i brushed with just a little water. He loved it! He especially liked that the red "oozed" a little like "blood" when he cut into it. He likes GROSS! LOL

Beach Ball
This 1/2 sportballs Beach Ball cake goes with the Sand Castle cake. The colors matched the party invitation. The little girl was having a backyard "beach" party and mom LOVED the cakes. I realized a little too late that when I smoothed the icing, i smudged the colors a tad on the top. Oh well, they still loved it.

Sand Castle Cake
Thanks to all the wonderful ideas from the various sand castle cakes here. Bottom tier is 8" sq, top tier is 4" sq - both are french vanilla w/indydebi's buttercream. Pulvarized graham cracker "sand". First time making fondant figures (crab, lobster & flipflops). Mini ice cream cone turrets. The flags are just card stock & toothpicks.

Congrats Kelsey
10" square (in my new 3" deep pan that I LOVE!) french vanilla cake, with almond buttercream icing and strawberry filling (the graduates faves!). Her mom wanted a simple, yet modern classic look. We decided on an ivory-ish color w/white for contrast. I'm uploaded a pic of the side scroll work that was to mimmick a henna tattoo she once had.

Wilton I Final Cake
Most of what I've learned is self taught, but I took Course I because the shells and that darn rose were eluding me. I still think I prefer fondant roses (ribbon or Duff) but I think I did a pretty good job. Cake is french vanilla w/Indydebi'e buttercream (I used almond extract instead of vanilla) - the roses are done with the class buttercream recipe. I'm not real crazy about the cake itself, as I rushed around trying to finish it, while my boys were driving me crazy and finished it just in time to leav

Western Cake
My version of the western/cowboy cake. Inspired by the MANY MANY versions I found here on CC. Bottom tier is french vanilla cake w/vanilla buttercream. Top tier is chocolate fudge cake w/vanilla buttercream. Both covered with Satin Ice fondant. Rope is SI chocolate fondant mixed 1to4 w/SI vanilla to produce lighter color and flavor. Horse was sculpted using Debbie Brown's instruction and is out of SI chocolate & vanilla fondant mixed 1 to 4.

Teapot Cake Pink Flowers
I made four of these teapots (2 w/pink flowers, 2 w/peach flowers). The pink ones are french vanilla cake w/buttercream filling, satin ice fondant, gumpaste handle, lid & spout, fondant flowers & ribbon rose. The cake was made using the small pampered chef glass batter bowl and a 6" round. the spout, handle and lid were freeform.

John Deere Tractor
12x12 yellow cake, 3D John Deere tractor also yellow cake. Indydebi's BC recipe. Design idea came from CherieO (I wanted to try her "corn" but ran out of time and no yellow sprinkles! The tractor is a little more cartoonish than I would have liked, but I'm REALLY proud of how well the square sheet came out! All comments, suggestions & criticisms welcome! TIA! TFL!

Green/white St Patty's Stacked Cake
My 1st stacked cake. For a St Patty's party w/my friends. Bottom tier: chocolate w/BC. Top tier: strawberry w/BC. As you can see from my other photos, I have a thing for dots & swirls. But I am pretty proud of it. Comments, suggestions, criticisms, all welcome. TIA!

St Patrick's Day
My first FBCT (the shamrock) . I am SOOO proud of this cake! It came out exactly as I envistioned it! How often does THAT happen?? The shamrock is off to the side b/c originally I was going to write "Happy St. Patrick's Day" on it, but since it's just a practice cake, I skipped the writing.

My First Purse Cake
I made this cake for myself on my 35th birthday. First time making & using MMF (fun and OMG, so much yummier than that big name store bought fondant). It was a good practice for me, b/c I've never used any fondant at all and I was able to creatively cover a couple of rips. The cake is triple chocolate (a doctored mix), chocolate mousse (my own recipe), crumb coated with pink buttercream, covered in mmf then mmf & buttercream accents. Not perfect, but still pretty darn cute.
