Mendhi
Here's my first attempt at a mendhi / henna cake. Pistachio cake with plain BC. Dark chocolate decorations. Inspiration for design came from 'The Henna Page "How-To" ' Thanks to all who offered ideas and support, including: Jamie85364, da757deevalibra, and ceshell. This was fun but time-consuming!

Pink And Brown Piping
Thanks to jsmith and Steady2Hands for their photos. I used this as a practice for piping skills...haven't been very steady-handed lately. Choc cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese icing. Designs piped in fudge. I'm working on getting my lines a little cleaner and losing the points on the dots. I know the board is covered in foil :( I figured out after the stores closed on Sunday evening that I didn't have enough paper. I am a CSM member--all constructive comments are welcome. Thanks for look

Michelle's Baby Boy
An open request this time so I got to try making buttons and a loopy bow. The bow was sparse on top when I finished and I didn't have any filler so I added a few more buttons to cover up the glue. Cake is WASC (a favorite of all my friends). Plain buttercream icing and fondant details. Sides of cake have baby feet and the word "baby." I am a critique subgroup member. All comments and suggestions (especially about the buttons and the bow) are welcome!

Katie's Shower
Thanks to all wedding dress cake makers, especially divaricks, for inspiration on this one. Bodice has lacy design piped in RI. Yellow cake with strawberry BC filling. Iced with cream cheese icing. Fondant dress and flowers. I can never get my top edges smooth on round cakes...they always have a little bump. Any suggestions on that? I am a Critique Subgroup Member. All comments welcome.

Pink And Orange Star Cake
WASC with crusting BC requested by the whole staff at my school. This is a thank you cake for the support everyone has given 2 of us this year as we worked through a national certification process. Thanks to Cakery for all the great borders--inspiration to try bolder designs on my cakes...I just need a steadier hand. Thanks also to tiptop57 for her support with all my questions as I try new techniques. The board is a bit small tonight. I am a Critique Subgroup Member--all comments welcome!

Noah's Ark Baby Shower
Noah's Ark baby shower cake. Buttercream Dream on Deep Chocolate cake. Fondant accents painted with icing colors. I see a few specks of cake I just couldn't get out and my shell borders lately have been more zig-zaggy than shells. Critique Subgroup Member--all comments welcome

First Fondant Class Pink Rose
I took a basic fondant class with Lida Snow this week. While I have covered a few cakes with before, it was nice to get tips from a pro. This is my first fondant rose--very fun to make. I think my fondant was a bit too thick on both the cake and the rose. I tried a diamond impression mat on the sides, but don't think it turned out how it should have. I am a Critique Subgroup Member--all comments and suggestions welcome.

Wendi Edayny Shower
This is my first cake after a long break to focus on schoolwork. It is for a double shower--a boy and a girl. Thanks to all the people who have done onesie cakes for the inspiration. I tried two colors in the icing bag for the border. Top border has blue on the outside; bottom has pink on the outside. Color of photo was funky due to crazy new lightbulbs in kitchen. I am a Critique Subgroup Member so all constructive comments welcome. Thanks.

Red Ornament
Here is my first ornament. It is a practice one for two upcoming events. I had trouble with the bottom layer of the cake sagging tonight. That's never happened for my ball cakes. I'm also having trouble getting the fondant smooth near the bottom. Boards on future cakes will look better than upside down foil and will have messages piped on them. Constructive criticism most welcome this evening. Thanks. Edited to say..Lethal Choc. cake with Peppermint BC (crushed candy canes) MMMMM!

Lightning Mcqueen
Here's my second Lightning McQueen. I tried color flow for the lightning bolts. They didn't come out shiny, like I had heard CF does, but I liked them. I used extra color flow for the windows...but piped it right on the cake. It was a little too thin so the windows are splotchy. The picture looks like its wet but it's just really shiny for some reason. WASC with plain BC inside. The wheels are cookies dipped in melted black icing with red fondant in the middle.

Lightning Mcqueen
Here's my first shaped cake! It's also my first time working with fondant. I piped BC for the decorations. I think next time I will use RI or fondant and make the decorations earlier, then glue them on. I accidentally cut the grill of the car the wrong direction so his smile is hiding....oops! I had fun doing this and love Satin Ice. I can't wait to find time to do another cake. This one is a simple chocolate with plain buttercream. The birthday boy was completely surprised and loved it.

Cccd Meeting Cake
This is a cake I made for a meeting at church. It was my first time with cake extender--I love it! I attempted a FBCT with the great recipe here, but it didn't turn out right so I piped over the design. I also tried the crusting (VIVA) buttercream for the majority of the cake. Cake is Pillsbury Devil's Food (extender).
