Brush Embroidery Cake
This design was inspired by the embroidery on the bride's dress. Edible triple pearl strings border to match her dress as well. I had a terrible time with the fondand on this cake; can't remember how many times I had to peel it off and tried again. I almost cried! I'm thankful it turned out OK, for awhile I thought I wouldn't have a cake to deliver. I have been wanting to do a brush embroidery cake since I first saw a photo of one. I'm so glad I finally got to make one :) Thanks for looking!

Nature Cake
This is my entry for the birthday category at the SC 2006 state fair. I won first place and sweepstake award (which is equivalent to best of show) for this cake. All flowers were hand pulled, they took a lot of time to make! Trees and rocks are all fondant. Waterfalls is royal icing. This is a retake of my other nature cake which won CC's nature contest.

Chocolate Roses
Did this one for my husband's co-worker for a thank-you. He's a chocolate fanatic so I decided to try chocolate roses. They were fun to do; would have been very easy if only I don't have HOT hands. Wearing gloves helped but I still had to work very fast which was a bit difficult for a first timer :) The cake was chocolate fudge filled with Grand Marnier chocolate truffle ganache and coffee buttercream. Covered with fondant that was infused with espresso but the color didn't show in the photo.

Romantic Wedding Cake
This is the cake I that started me on my new cake decorating journey 5 months ago. I tried to cover it with fondant but the kitchen was so hot that day my fondand never worked :( Even my royal icing was melting so I had to decorate at the reception site. The lights were dimmed so I couldn't get a really nice picture. bummer! The cake was much better looking in real life. All flowers are sugar paste, some of the little filler flowers and the ones I used on the borders were handpulled. Mission accomplished!

Mountain Getaway
I made this for a combined birthday party for my husband, his brother and brother's wife. All 3 of them love mountains, so what better than a mountain cake? My first attempt at cake sculpting, it was more challenging than I thougt. The splashes of colors on the sides were supposed to look like wild flowers from a distant, I'll do a better job next time :)

Spring Celebration
I made this cake for my church's lady's spring fling party. Unfortunately I couldn't attend, I sent it along with my mother-in-law. It was a big hit! Everyone loved how it looked, but especially how it tasted. People were asking for business cards, guess I better come up with some soon :) I didn't have time to make flowers so I recycled my first gum paste roses. The cake was dark chocolate, filled with a layer of Grand Marnier chocolate mousse and a layer of Grand Marnier Swiss buttercream. Yummm!

Daisies For Mom
I made this cake for mother-in-law who loves daisies. My husband got me a new tip set and I love the tip that makes this border but I added it to the cake for fun. It ended up giving it almost a classic feel. It's a strawberry cake filled with fresh strawberries and french buttercream. Covered with french buttercream as well. Flowers are gum paste.

Pony Birthday Cake
This is my first "paid" cake :-) Made for a frirend's daughter turning 13. She loves horses and pastel pink so I thought I'd combine both themes. Flowers, horse shoe and keepsake base are gumpaste. I couldn't find a horse mold but luckily I ran across this little plaster pony. It was all white so I painted it. The grass on top is royal icing so she can take the top plate home for keepsake. The cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache, Cover with fondant and decorated with french buttercream.

Faberge Egg
First time making an egg shape cake. I love faberge eggs so I decided to dress it up a bit and give it a little royal treatment :) Didn't have enough time to finish the more intricate design but I still like the result. The cake is chocolate filled with gianduja ganache and coffee buttercream. Flowers and jewels are made from gum paste. Covered with homemade fondant.

Simply Sweet
This was my final cake for my Wilton III class. I was inspired by the cake on the cover of the Wilton's Romantic wedding cakes book. I am making a cake for my brother-in-law's wedding this June. I took the Wilton classes to get ready for his wedding cake. His future bride saw the photos of this cake and absolutely loved it and wanted it for their wedding. It will be a 3-tier version of this one. I used my homemade marshmallow fondant and made the gum paste roses myself. That was so much fun!

Anniversary Cake For My Parents-In-Law
This was my first celebration cake. My father-in-law got my mother-in-law this china set for their anniversary and I got the idea of creating a cake that has some of the beautiful elements of the china. The result was this cake. I like said, this was my very first cake so the techniques are not quite well executed but nonetheless I was very proud of it. My parents-in-law were extremely happy when they saw the cake.
