Polka Dots!
6" square, 12" round, 14" square cakes iced in buttercream and covered in homemade fondant from recipes off this site! The bride (a cousin!) wanted a non-traditional look to her cake, black and white, and polka dots. This is the first wedding cake I have ever covered in fondant and I can't say I really enjoyed it, but am happy with the results!

Leather Cowboy Hat
This is my very first cowboy hat! I had so much fun making this cake, I can't wait to do another. The brim is made from gumpaste and fondant (2:1 ration), lightly colored brown, then rubbed with cocoa powder. I set a fan in front of it and dried it for 36 hours. There are three carved 9" round cakes under the fondant crown. I also colored the fondant brown, and rubbed with cocoa powder. The trim hat band is a store-bought braided trim.

Sponge Bob First Birthday Cake
Although Sponge Bon is not a favorite of mine, this cakes was so much fun! I made one round and two square ten inch cakes, then carved them into letters. I used color mists over the buttercream and gel transfers for my character patterns. Unfortunately, I took this picture after the birthday boy rearranged Sponge Bob's smile!

Msu Senior Swim Team
This is a half-sheet marble cake iced in buttercream. This cake was to celebrate the MSU senior team members' last meet. The names are on edible image sheets and the swimming "Sparty" is a gel transfer. I didn't get to spend as much time decorating as I would have liked as it took three tries to get the cake baked (the last time across the street at my wonderful neighbor's!) due to my oven dying and me not realizing the problem until after the second cake did not bake correctly!

Stacy's Shower Cake
This is my first fondant-covered cake-and things went pretty ok! It is a 10" square marble cake with Bavarian creme filling. I iced it in buttercream, then covered that with marshmallow fondant. The rope border (ok, need to work on that!) and the ribbon roses and leaves were also MMF. The ribbon across the cake is gumpaste (ran out of purple fondant, but had leftover gumpaste from the bow that wouldn't dry because it has been raining for the last three days!) and the writing is buttercream.

Daisies And Black-Eyed Susans
I made this two-tier white lemon cake with raspberry filling for my husband's cousin who was hosting a bridal shower. She specified only to match the decor (golds, oranges, reds) of the lounge at her condo. The tiers are a 6" round and a 12" hexagon (that I didn't even remember I owned!!!). Basketweave with shell borders, royal icing flowers.

Reunion Cake
This is a half-sheet dark chocolate fudge cake with cream cheese icing. All she specified was the "I love you!" and pretty...I had already told her I had three other cakes to do that day, so I would be using flowers from another project, she said "Ok!" It is pale yellow cornelli lace on same color icing with reverse shell top border and regular shell border.

Pink Birthday Cake
This is a 12" round French vanilla cake, no filling. The birthday girl requested pale pink icing with brighter pink, purple, and turquoise (turned out more teal!). The drop flowers are made from buttercream - up until now I have only made them with royal icing...these turned out great!). Pink on pink cornelli lace with cake sparkles.

Centerpiece Cake
This is just one of 24 3" tall, 6" round cakes for Jen & Brandon's outdoor wedding. To hold up in the heat, I had to modify my buttercream recipe by replacing the milk with water, used all shortening, and also added one tablespoon of meringue powder and one-quarter cup of cake flour. To my surprise, I got many compliments on the icing specifically...not too sweet, and it held up real well. After standing for 7 hours in high humidity and 85 degrees, the icing was as nice as when I first set the cakes out!

Jen & Brandon's Wedding
These are all dummy cakes, except for the top tier. The main cake is 6", 10", 14" and the satellite cakes are 6", 8" and 10". The hurricane lamps are filled with sand, shells, and water - the goldfish were left at home due to high heat! The wedding had a beach theme...very fitting, as we live just about on Lake Michigan! I added white chocolate shells to the smallest cake, and also placed some with the flower arrangements to tie all the cakes together. There were also 24 centerpiece cakes.

Joe's Graduation
This was such a fun graduation cake! Joe had struggled all through school, so his mom wanted a cake that celebrated his "release" from structured education. The background is "painted" on using Color Mist sprays, and I used gel transfers to place the patterns of the car, school, and sign on the cake so I could "color" in the lines.

Chocolate Eclair Graduation Cake
Greg requested a while cake with French vanilla pudding for filling and chocolate filling. I made a French vanilla cake filled with French vanilla pudding made with cream instead of milk - wow! rich! - and a double-chocolate buttercream icing. This cake tasted wonderful!

Basketweave On Floating Tier Stand
Basketweave is not on the top of my list, but I did enjoy decorating this cake. The daisies are royal icing, the roses and bachelor buttons are buttercream. The bachelor buttons were the closest match to the orchids I could get. 'Tho not perfect, I think the color ties the top tier to the other two. The bottom cake was chocolate almond with raspberry and cream cheese fillings. The top two tiers were white orange cake with raspberry and cream cheese filling

Full-Sheet Chocolate Cake With Buttercream Icing And Edible Images
My husband's cousin is on the high school swim team. For their last meet they are having a celebration and requested a cake somewhat like the one I did for the water polo team earlier this year. Although, naturally, things didn't go quite as planned, I am pretty happy with the way things turned out.
