"almost Ready"
For the joint birthday party of my son who turned 6, and my niece who turned 3. He's into construction and she's into princesses. So what better - a cake where a princess castle is being built! French vanilla cake and BC throughout, the castle is covered in fondant using a brick impression mat. Cobblestone impression mat for the road and patio. Gumpaste for the signage. The landscaping was a holiday pick that I cut up. The mud pit is BC with graham cracker and oreo crumbs mixed in. Thanks for looking!

Baby Shower With Fondant Figures
10" chocolate cake with white chocolate truffle filling, iced in BC with little fondant cutout figures that went along with the invitations. The rubber duck was painted with super pearl luster dust, as was the bottom border. Edible glitter on top also. Thanks for looking!

Baby Shower Fondant Figures - Close Up
A close up of some of the fondant cutout figures. I used marbelized fondant for the fish. Wish my camera angle would have been able to capture the toy boats too. This was the first time I've done these, I think they're cute and they were a lot of fun. Thanks for looking!

Ava's Tea Party
I did this tea party cake for my niece's 3rd birthday. French vanilla 10" round single-layer cake with BC (try not to notice my bubbly icing finish...), fondant "tablecloth" with embossed hearts painted in Super Pearl dust. Bottom border is also painted fondant. (Tea set is from China) I set this on a smooth edge plate atop the 3" Wilton globe pillars base set. MANY thanks to jsmith for putting the idea in my head and answering my questions, and creating the original on which this is based!

Elizabeth And Troy
3-tier BC iced wedding cake with funky fondant accents to match wedding colors, and gumpaste butterflies. This is a knockoff of a cake the bride saw in a magazine. The cake tiers themselves are half cake, half cheesecake, which was waaaaay easier than I thought it would be. Heavy as all get-out though! I think it's my favorite cake so far. And I got to use my extruder for the first time! YAY! Thanks for looking!

Keller Hartley Seashells Wedding
French Vanilla cake and Strawberry cake with whipped white chocolate ganache filling. BC icing and white chocolate seashells. It was an ungodly hot and humid day and our kitchen was in the 90s inside (AC not working), I hate icing square cakes anyway and when the icing is literally melting off the cake while you're trying to ice, makes it a million times worse. But I think given the circumstances, it worked out ok. I like the look, and hoping next time I try this it will work better!

Ethan Allen Fbct
I did this FBCT for our local Ethan Allen store during their 75th anniversary celebration. In reality I did two of these cakes, one for each day of the party; I also appeared as a local vendor doing a decorate your own cookie bar for kids. So this weekend was crazy - two big FBCT cakes and 200 cookies with icings...I was tired! :)

Dawn And Dave's Cakes
I love this setup - no dowelling!! :) First time using a fountain, needed to make a ring of flowers to conceal the ugly base. Had some trouble adjusting the flow so it wasn't splashing water all over the table. We had to throw away about a dozen of the printed napkins :( French vanilla sour cream cake on one side, and classic chocolate cake on the other, all iced in BC.

Christina Nicole's Cake
For another US Naval Academy wedding. This cake had to travel 93 miles in 90+ degree heat (we all caught colds afterwards since the AC in the SUV was set to 4 the whole way!) but survived without incident. French vanilla sour cream cake and classic chocolate cake, filled and iced with extra buttery BC, fondant ribbons and bows. Had a little trouble with the fondant ribbons (the connecting edges showed a bit) but it was fun to do.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Groom's Cake
This was a wedding present for a very special couple I work with, for their rehearsal dinner. I will admit I cheated and used Wilton already colored tube icings to save time and especially to get the best red without losing my mind :) And to all who will ask this question - no I did not sell this cake, so no copyright infringement worries!

Cherry Blossom Birthday Cake
This is for the husband of my operations manager, who is also now a family friend. He is a big fan of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, and since it's this weekend, I wanted to commemorate it a little. The cake is a spice cake with my mother's boiled caramel icing used as the filling.
