Beautiful roses, I just wish I could have seen more of the making if them and less of empty sponge - maybe someone behind the camera would have helped.

I have tried making roses for some time and they were OK, but with the tutorial I can now see how the alternating petals will make a great difference and hopefully increase the quality of my work. Thank you very much for sharing.

Ok; wonderful if you've got nothing else to do and no other projects on the go- but excruciatingly time consuming and unrealistic for the average decorator. My last cake had over forty large deep red roses on. If I had made them like this, the cost to the buyer would have gone through the roof and I would have produced nothing else whatsoever for weeks running up to the wedding. This kind of creativity is verging on art, like Amy Swann, and has little to do with us normal people. It's a bit like comparing a house painter with Leonardo da Vinci. I have huge admiration for these splendid artisans, and love to watch their tutorials...but sometimes I have to remind myself that my cakes are for eating at the end of the day and not to be too disheartened that they don't look this grand. I'm not an artist, I'm a cake maker and roses don't have to be absolutely botanically accurate- just very, very edible.
