Hey everyone!!

First - thanks for such a great website -- i have been learning a lot here and look forward to learning more!

I was hoping that maybe one of the course 3 instructors could help me out with this one ...

I know that years ago, two cakes were done in the course -- a clown fondant cake and the buttercream tier. Now, I guess, the tier cake is taught w/ fondant. And I thought that another cake was taught as well - a stacked present cake?

If that is the case, when do i need that cake? I'm trying to plan ahead and get everything i'll need for the classes ahead of time, but i don't have the book or the syllabus, so I am sort of at a loss!

Thanks in advance for everything! I haven't taken a class in a few years and I feel a bit like the kid who left their bookbag on the school bus!! icon_biggrin.gif

A present cake in fondant is part of Course III but it is not required to be stacked. It is part of the course where they introduce you and instruct you on the "Wilton Way" of covering of a cake with fondant. Good luck with the classes. thumbs_up.gif

Yes the 1st cake in course III is called the Fondant Package cake. It is not stacked it's simply layered. The book list the 8" X 2" square pan for this cake. And it should be about 4" high so you need two cakes.

You also learn petunias, fondant roses, Easter Lily, Morning Glories etc.

The final cake your instructor might give you the option to either stack or make a tiered cake. And you may use fondant or buttercream. It really depend on how much freedom your instructor gives. As long as you have some of the basic elements from the course in your cake you should be fine.

Thankfully there are no clowns in Course 3.... LOL... I hate clowns...

BrittBB -- I love your final Course 3 cake -- it is absolutely fantastic! I didn't see that you had a present cake, though. Just wanted to let you know in case it has "disappeared" from your profile ...

finally928 - thanks for pointing out my 'present' cake wasn't on there. Don't know what happened. And thanks for your kind remarks about my final cake. I had great fun doing it. We had a potluck the next day at work and it was one of the lady's birthdays, so she got the top tier, and we cut the rest for dessert for the potluck. Everybody enjoyed it.
