"Did I charge enough?"
(Insert cheesey game show music here)
Ladies and Gentlemen thanks for joining us today for another round of our popular game show. I'm your host, Michelle.
Today's cake was made for a 2 year old's birthday. Buttercream, the ever popular cookies 'n' cream filling, chocolate cake. So let's get started...
The price was... $60. Let's say it all together folks... "Did I Charge Enough?"
The winner of todays game will have my undying gratitude. The loser, a pat on the back and the home edition of our game show as well as it's sister show "Did I Pay Too Much?" which your host plays every time she buys something off of ebay.
Oh my goodness this is hilarious.....first off before I can play the game...how big is the cake? how many can it feed?
HAHAHAHAHHA HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
OMG I think I just blew a gasket lol
Love it, love it, love it!!!!
Well kid, did you get compensated for your supplies and time?
Did you have any leftover after your overhead?
To tell ya the ugly and nasty truth darlin, Walmart sells two tiers with filling for around 85.
But it sounds like you are on the right track though.
Just remember, whenever pricing anything, you can always go down you can't hardly ever go up.
I don't think so.....I will be making a 9", double layer heart cake for a co-worker for Valentine's day (chocoate with oreo filling also) and charging $30, which I think is fair. So $60 for this is not bad.
deb
I love that idea of the game show
I think your price is fair. But I don't know what size it is. I would have charged something like that too.
Freaking walmart! AHH I forget they do cakes!
It was for the sister of one of my best friends so I erred on the side of low for her! Damn...I thought I went too low.
It was a 10" and an 8" cake to answer the size question.
Well folks, this one is going to be close. I will consult the judges and award the winner his/her prize. Today you are playing for... a poem written in your honor and posted for all to see and the title "Did I charge enough Reigning Champion".
*If the todays game is ruled a tie, there will be the option of a speed round. I, however, hope that doesn't happen because I have no idea how to do a speed round.
Michelle
Ha! Ha! Too funny!!
Looks like a 10 inch and an 8 inch double layer...guessing....
I would say 60 dollars was not enough as this looks to feed about 30-40 people.I would have charged about $75.00
Laurel
lol
As I hit the answer buzzer and say $80.00. You have the fondant or gumpaste stars and letters painted with luster dust don't forget.
Did I win?
I think $60 is too little, now I wonder if I won the game, depends what you'll like to hear, too little it's bad cause you could have made more, but it's good cause it means you'll make more next time, on the other hand, if I tell you $60 was fair, is good cause you won't feel you lost money, but you'll feel sad that your great cake deservs less than the cakes from wallmart...boy this game is hard...
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! No you did not charge enough.
I agree with the $80-90 range. Again, it depends where you are located. In NYC you can charge more, but maybe not somewhere more rural.
But $60 is kinda low.
I would be happy if I got $60 for this cake. However, that being said I think you could have charge more and the buyer would have been happy with the price. Up to $100 I would say.
Well folks, our game time has come to an end. This is going to be a tough one to call. I'd say general consenses is right and I should have charged more. Lesson learned.
Now...I shall pick a winner at random from the responses...(let's just say for the sake of arguement and authenticity I have a cool rolling drum thingy and a lovely assistant to spin it so I can pick out a name)...drum roll please... and the winner is...
ONCEUPONACAKE!!! for best use of the buzzer sound!
Congratulations! And now for your prize...a poem just for you:
Once upon a cake I pick
I think your shoe cake's really slick
Your fairy cake is really sweet
for someone a special treat.
Thumbelina is really clever,
that one must have taken forever.
But my favorite, don't you know,
is those penguins in the snow!
ONCEUPONACAKE, you may now rightfully use the title "First Offical Winner of Did I Charge Enough" in any and all advertising for your cake business. I'm sure that will bring you loads of devoted customers.
Seriously...thanks guys! I just got the call that the cake was a HUGE hit. I should have charged more. I swear in the future I will.
Michelle
I don't have a clue about what to charge for cakes but I just wanted to say I love that cake. It is sooooooo cute!
Did I win?
