Decorating By JerseyShoreCakes Updated 14 Jun 2012 , 12:27pm by JerseyShoreCakes
I am doing a bee hive cake on Saturday June 23 I was wondering if anyone has the Debbie brown 50 easy cake book with the bee hive cake picure in it i would like to see how they carved the cake to get that affect if someone can please post it I will gladly appreciate it I have tried a trial cake yesterday and it just turned out bad I have never sculpted before so I reallly need to see how its done
Don;t have the book/pic but all you need do is put a smaller cake round on top of the cake and holding the knife at an angle from the round to the largest layer, shave off cake from the top until you reach that board.
Think of it like this: \\ .
Not the best picture sorry but here is a scan of Debbie Browns beehive cake before she covers it in icing. Tried to scan the whole page for you including instructions but you cant read it sorry so here is the highlights -
She uses an 8 inch cake and a 6 inch cake.
8 inch cake - cut to make 2 layers trim edges so they are rounded.
6 inch - cut to make 2 layers trim edges so they rounded and cut one layer smaller then the other
.
hope this helps
