I bought a hand crank pasta roller to use with my Silhouette. I've been trying for days to get all the excess oil/grease out of it before I ruin gumpaste with it. I'm still getting black grease out of it. Suggestions??

I have never had grease come out of any of mine.... what brand did you buy? Is it made for food?

I would also like to know the answer. I bought one several years ago and it does the same thing. It's a pasta maker I purchased and a home kitchen store.

I would return it for a replacement.

I would think that it would ruin pasta too...why would there be anything like that in there to begin with? I would take it back.

It's made for pasta. The brand is Roma. Bought it on Amazon. The directions in it say to never use soap and water on it, which I find weird... how else do you clean it after putting pasta dough through it which I would assume has raw egg in it. (never made my own pasta before, so I'm not 100% on that egg part) It also said to use a dry clean cloth to wipe excess oil off it that was put there to prevent damage during shipping.

So no one else has had issues like this? What brands do you use? I'm wanting a simple hand crank one that's not too expensive. This one was $30-$40.

Thanks!

Mine did that too when it was new. I just kept scrubbing the rollers down with one of those non-scratch scouring pads made for non-stick cookware then running paper towels through the rollers on the thinnest setting until all the black disappeared. The paper towels removed any excess black oil built up way in the corners, and now I don't have to do that any more
