hi everyone im doing a three tier ivory wedding cake with cascading ivory roses all down the layers what would be best to stick the roses with they are not wired just heads. ie royal icing edible glue? your advice would be very much appreciated as this will be my 1st wedding cake and i want everything to be just right thanks sue xx
If they are air-dried buttercream roses, you can use a dab of BC on the back of each rose. Start building the cascade from the bottom, and move upwards so the lower roses can help to support the upper roses. If you are also piping leaves around the roses to help fill the spaces, the leaves will also help to keep the roses stuck to the cake.
Using a round tip like a 3 or 5 pipe on open circle of b'cream on the back of each rose.
OR another idea: use royal icing and pipe a spike on the back that will be pushed into the cake. Make the icing rather stiff so you can pull out a spike at least 1" or longer. If the roses are rather large you might want to make 3 spikes. You want these to dry hard so pipe them a day or so before placing on the cake.
