Business Website Building - Please Help!!
Business By TexasCakes77 Updated 27 Sep 2011 , 2:32pm by jason_kraft
I just started a cake business (in Texas, law just passed) and I am having a horrible time with the hosting company I chose and the editing of all of this.
Does anyone know of and recommend an easy website builder/hosting that doesn't require html or complicated computer knowledge?
Right now I am using Hosting24 and nucleus editor (Both have been nightmarish for me).
Please, any suggestions would be so appreciated!
But I heard once you sign up with them they own your domain name and won't allow you to take it anywhere else...?
I have a name thru godaddy. They have hosting options, or you can have your name through them and host your website through another company.
If you really want a business web site customized to your specifications, I recommend hiring an independent web designer. Web design students at local colleges are another option if you are short on cash.

Absolutely, totally, completely FALSE.
Re domain name ownership, you should review the contract carefully since some hosts (especially cheaper ones) do have terms that limit your ability to transfer your domain names to other hosts, sometimes with time limits and/or excessive fees.
Vistaprint is really easy to use for websites and you can also have matching business cards and other things.
I personally use squarespace.com as it gives me a much greater interface with more ways to customize (though at first it's quite overwhelming)
GoDaddy is really nice to work with, used to host there too. Now I just host on our own server. For website, I'd recommend wordpress. There are a lot of templates out there and many sites are build using wordpress. Once customized, it looks nothing like a blog. You may want to check out templatemonster for any templates you may like. Also, if you join their FB page, they give out coupon codes fairy often, the last one was 81% off I think, so you can purchase the template fairy inexpensive. Just make sure you look under wordpress, as templatemonster has LOTS of templates, and their website templates will be hard to customize without experience.
Good luck, P
The important thing to remember about your domain name is that if you go year-to-year you have to keep on top of your renewal. If you don't, your domain name is up for grabs and you could lose it, and while it is unrenewed your website will probably be inaccessible.

Most reputable web hosts will remind you when it is time to renew your domain, and even if you let it lapse there is a 30-day grace period after expiration where you can renew it without someone else picking it up.
