Hi, this is my first time posting, so I'm not sure if I should be asking this question here, I hope so. I recently bought some Wilton fondant but it doesn't taste that great, and I have to use it due to time constraints. Does anyone know if it's possible to add for example almond or vanilla extract to it or will it change its characteristics too much? If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. Thank you.

it will make it taste like almond bug spray instead of regular bug spray icon_biggrin.gif

Kidding aside...you can add extracts to pre-made fondant. To make it easier to knead in, I would roll it out, then smear a little extract over it, fold it in half, pressing around the edges to seal, then in half again, etc. This will spread the extract out and make it easier to knead in without it dripping and squirting all over.

I use Lor Ann flavored oils to flavor the very terrible-tasting but very handy Wilton fondant.

LOL - I actually like the bug spray. Huh. However - it is good to know you can flavor it. I'll have to give it a try!

earlene moore suggests to use the oils instead of regular flavorings.

I have used the oil as well. It does not taste like bug spray ... you may want to play around with it until you find a combo that best suites your needs.
