I have some guests coming this Sunday, I wanna look like Susie homemaker and have this bake baking before the come.

I am so very far from Susie Homemaker that I will make a big mess making up the batter and such, could I make the batter the night before and leave it in the frig and bring to room temp next day and bake?
I am not familiar with this recipe and how making the batter ahead of time will affect the rising of the cake. I prefer to make my batter the same time as I'm baking, but I have stored left over cake batter in the fridge for several days. I have also froze it too. The cakes came out just fine. I use DH and doctor it up for my cakes.
I know mud cake batter can be left out at room temperature overnight and is still absolutely perfect. Don't know about that recipe though.
I agree w/the others that it would be better to go ahead and bake up the batter.
My experience w/cake mix batters is they do not rise well if held more than an hour or two.
I don't know.
Were you planning on serving it to them or decorating it? If so, you would need time to cool the cakes and cakes usually take some time to cool, even if you freeze it out of the oven. That would take you away from your guests.
I hold scratch cake batter ALL the time. Sometimes for days. It's fine. Bakeries couldn't survive without holding batter.
I refrigerate and freeze left over cake batter and use it all the time. I've never had a problem.
I had NO IDEA you could do this! SAVE the batter for later. Oh my goodness. THIS is going to be a BIG saver!!!!!
I have a confession hehehehe red faced here My nosey sister n law was coming over for a couple days and she says if you use boxed mixes you arent a real baker ...
Well before she came I emptied my dh in my good old airtight cake flour container and when she came in to help in the kitchen .... I just started measuring and sifting away ....lmbo ....best scratch cake shes ever had and she went on to say while eating my good old homemade dh that boxed cakes s**k .....Im still laughing ))) shhhhh

Ha ha I love it!!!!
I just want the kitchen not to be a complete wreck when they come over, If I can make the batter and frosting the night before I can do the clean up that night and then that morning I can bake the cake and I hear the above recipe makes a house smell wonderful (kill two birds w/ one stone)
Oh and thanks ladies for the advice, I think I'll go ahead and do it! it wont be in the frig even 24 hrs, if real bakers can get away w/ it then lil ole me and surely do it!
