Is this after you have made it or after it has been sitting a while? I know sometimes when it gets a little stiff I heat it up in the microwave (about 10-15 SEC) and grease my hands really well then massage it and that seems to do the trick.

I am new to this forum, so I don't know how experienced you are at making MM fondant, but do you sift your powdered sugar?

I was going to ask the same thing. Sifting is imperative when making MMF or you will get lumps.

Are you making sure that the marshmallows are completely melted and kneaded in with the powdered sugar? I never sift my powdered sugar and my fondant always comes out smooth. Are you kneading in additional powdered sugar until smooth and elastic? Wrap well in plastic wrap and store in a ziplock bag. Do not refrigerate. If you follow these tips your MMF should come out perfect every time. Hope this helps.

I was having problems with lumps in one batch, so I ran to my computer to check CC, and found some old posts about it just being clumps of PS, but if you give it time to sit (i left mine in the fridge for a few hours) it will give the MMF time to absorb all of these clumps

Ihave had this happen before and I thought it was the powdered sugar even though I sifted it, I had used a different brand. Last night when I was making the mmf I was stirring the marshmallows and I saw the little gummy things. I remade the marshmallow mixture and this time i did not put crisco on the spoon and it worked out great. I think in the 2 times it has happened to me I put to much crisco on the spoon. Thats the explanation I'm going with for now anyway icon_lol.gif So I was wondering if you had coated your spoon or bowl with crisco???????(while mixing or melting your marshmallows) Also the gummy things I have had DO NOT go away while resting!!

I just made a batch myself and got lumps of powdered sugar. I used a different brand, I've never sifted before and thought I wouldn't have to this time. NOT! icon_surprised.gif

Guess I'll let it rest to see if the teeny tiny clumps of PS get absorbed. And will ALWAYS sift in the future.

I wonder if all the people who are getting lumps are using the same brand, since a couple of you have said you tried a new brand this time???
