I have an order for "vintage" cupcakes and I really don't know what that means. Any ideas?
I did some once that might fit the bill...
I took some white fondant and some soft green fondant. I layed a few narrow strips of the green fondant on top of my white fondant disc and rolled the green in. Then I made small "duff" pink roses and put those on top with a little green leaf I piped.
The customer is a friend and even SHE isn't quite sure what she wants! ACK! Vintage could mean 1970s or even 1940s!
For some reason, I keep picturing a light pink liner with a vanilla cupcake and white icing and a small pink candy on top. Why, I have no clue! LOL!
definatly clarify with the customer but to me im thinking
browns, creams, pastely pinks and blues
lace (ooo like those nice cup cake wrappers!)
white puffiness (what ever that actually is)
cameos
daisies (as in jane austen style vintage, lol)
put it into google and you get all kinds of images, so really, it could be anything!
xx
I made some before for an antique store owner. I used ivory buttercream and put a chocolate cameo on each one.
When I think vintage I think something like these:

When I think of vintage, I think of the 30's and 40's. The images that come to mind for me are lace, pearls, dark browns, buttons, and I love the cameo idea. Try going to google or yahoo, and searching vintage under images. Good luck, and I'm anxious to see them!
Well that is a little ridiculous. How could someone ask for vintage cupcakes and not even know what she wants. Ask her for further description. Vintage could be anything.
Vintage is a very broad style, open to interpretation. She definately needs to tell you from what era she's thinking of, even colours. I've made some shabby chic cupcakes, but are they vintage? as everyone else has suggested, it could be anything. (sorry don't know how to post link. pale blue, white and pink)
All the best chocomama, it sounds like a fun cupcake to do (when she gives you her idea of vintage) cant wait to see photos.
Rather than asking what she want the cupcakes to look like, why don't you ask what her plans for the party are? Get her to tell you about location, decorations etc. Then maybe you can get an idea that coordinates with the rest of the party or event or whatever these are for.
Zalita's things are so vintage to me. The pieces she uses to display with really add a lot to the whole picture. I am always scrounging garage sales and flea markets for things like that.
I love Louise's cupcakes...very vintage looking !
