I'm sloooowwwww this week. One 3 tier wedding cake to be delivered tomorrow, and that's it. Finished except for fondant ribbons which I'll put on tomorrow.

However, the B&B is full, so I've got 6 guests to cook breakfast for tomorrow morning.

Hi Leah!!
Nothing going on this week. I did make a new recipe of fondant though. I think I might cover a cake dummy and see how it goes. That's about it for my friday night.

Just getting back into it after taking a couple of months off for maternity leave (i guess you can call it that even though i do this part time right now) I have one small two tier birthday cake to deliver tomorrow morning. All i've done so far is bake the cake. Ended up going out for Date night b/c grandma offered to babysit, so we couldn't pass that up.

Looks like it will be a long night.... and made even longer now because i sliced the tip of my pinky finger off this afternoon on a mandolin cutting up a cucumber. So it's a little sore, and of course it's on my main hand. So guess i should get out to the kitchen since the kids are asleep.

good evening....working on a small cupcake tower and grooms cake for my uncles wedding tomorrow. my aunt (his sister) is making the wedding cake. my future aunt wanted a cupcake tower, but since my aunt was making the cake she designed it. so this will be a surprise for my uncle.
its a disney themed wedding. the grooms cake will be his favorite coconut cake with ....hopefully if i can make it.....mickey ears (hat) on top. the cupcakes are his fiance's favorite, vanilla bean cupcakes with milk chocolate frosting. and her favorite flower, daisies on top.
my grandaughter is the flower girl...its gonna be a long day!
im thinking of frosting the cupcakes and putting the fondant daisies on there. so i dont have to drive (its an hour from here) with them decorated.
i have my kids helping me thank god!!

Hello everyone! After a couple weeks off I have a very busy August. For this weekend I have a small bridal shower cake, baseball theme. Not sure if there's a story behind that or not, but it's what was requested. icon_smile.gif Then I have to plan my cousin's birthday cake for next weekend, a breast cancer fundraiser cake for the weekend after and another cousin's wedding cake for September. Lots of planning to do. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm making a 4 tier wedding cake for a friend. And using SPS for the first time icon_biggrin.gif Though i can't get over the fear of driving 4.5 hours with my two little boys, suitcases and the husband, So I'm going to get it plated and the SPS inserted, then do the stacking when I get to the hotel room. THEN i'll take it to the reception room. It is dark chocolate with light blue; and a few dozen cupcakes in WASC to do tomorrow morning. I'm having a blast. Two more tiers to decorate.

??? on the SPS? does the cake go into the tubes, or is it displaced into the rest of the cake? Should I cut the fondant (dark chocolate Satin Ice) before i push it in?

working on my son's wedding cake for tomorrow! It's 4 tiers - 6" and 16" deep dark cohocolate, 9" carrot and 12" lemon. I also am using SPS for the first time. My fondant is a combination of MFF and Satin Ice Vanilla. It's been cracking after I pushed the SPS plate in, so much so in fact that I had to take off the fondant and start over. icon_cry.gif

last night was an all-nighter so this one definitely can't be!

aww...very sorry to hear. It's the Satin Ice that's cracking icon_sad.gif it always forms a layer of crust after putting it on and leaving it out a while...I advise putting the supports in just after you cover the cakes.

good luck! thumbs_up.gif

I am always very nervous when transporting cakes....I have done one in the 100 degree weather to Indiana icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif My cake made it but my fondant accents melted a little in the sun...so, keep your cake out of the sun especially.

I'm assuming that the tubing for the sps goes into the cake. The last poster said she got some cracking so you could maybe cut a slit before putting them in...but I know Leah would be the expert on that icon_wink.gif

mindy1204 : Your Nintendo cake is GREAT!! Not sure what is with all the criticism.... icon_confused.gif

I do not know how you ladies all do 6 cakes in one weekend. I just finished baking and decorating a 6 inch cake and 80 cupcakes for a wedding tomorrow, plus I baked the 6 cakes I need for a 3 tier cake on Sunday to be decorated tomorrow 8,10,12. I am beat and my body aches and it was SO hot here and I think it is much hotter down where most of you ladies seem to be from. I applaud all of you for being so great! I am getting better at time management but I think 2 big orders is my limit.

Sorry so late checking in...I'm exhausted. No actual cake today, just prep for the ones to come. I have a bridal faire in Jan and need 6 dummy cakes...was supposed to start this week on it...got the poured sugar done and the moulded pieces done and painted but my son got sick (not a usual occurance for him) and life has come to a standstill so I spent all day today, and most of the eve, working on those pieces and what I need for my grandaughters 1st b'day cake. So sugar work poured and done, check!, moulded pieces done and painted, check!, handmoulded and painted cake topper for g'daughters cake, check!....dummy cake covered and stacked...nope...not yet. Thankful I didn't take that last minute order cause I'm wiped out! Hopefully come Sunday I'll have it together enough to put the dummy cake together. We'll see!

Nite ya'll

Late night hello!

I made a cake today to take to dinner w/my sorority sisters--it's a reunion weekend for our chapter. It was a hit and our 2 servers nabbed the last piece. icon_lol.gif

Baking again tomorrow for my hubby's pilot group. It's their monthly meeting on Sunday. Trying to come up w/something super simple w/an aviation theme. Not really the sort of group that will appreciate elaborate decorations.
