Hello to everyone on CC. Ok, I am going to be making my cousins wedding cake which is for this saturday. I found the cake that she wants. Here is the link for the cake it's # WF-002 (second one on the top row)

She like it just like this but wants to have the lace in gold and the bow on the bottom to be in gold like the on that is on this link Cake # WF-202. (first one on the bottom row)

So my dilemma is how to make the bow gold. I have an airbrush machine, but I am afraid that if I airbrush it gold and try to handle it before it dries that it will be ruined and if I wait until it dries that it will crack. I also thought of painting it on with a brush, but I am worried about streaks. I see that the one in the second link looks very clean cut and it almost looks like the gold color was blended in, but I have never heard of that. Please help give any ideas possible that will make this cake happen. At this point I am at a loss. I appreciate all the help you can offer. Thanks again.

It does not take long for airbrushed color to dry.....less than 1 minute usually.
So you can ab it, let it dry, and still be able to place it on the cake.
I don't know how humid it is in Miami but I still think it won't take long for the gold to dry.
Alternative: you can ab the bow on the cake but you iwll have to mask everything around it so the dust doesn't get on any other part of the cake.
When I look at those bows, they appear to me that they were made with colored fondant and then shimmered with pearl dust.
When I make grey or gold items, I color the fondant to the desired color I need and then I shimmer it with the matching pearl dust.

I agree, when I did my silver bows I started with gray and use vanilla to paint on the silver pearl dust.
Thank you all for your help. I appreciate all of the advice and I think I will try coloring the fondant first and then brushing it with gold luster dust. I think this will work best. Thank you kakeladi, inspireddecorator & paulstonia. You came to my rescue. You guys are awesome
