Anyone Been Asked To Make A Twilight Cake Yet?

my daughter is standing in line right now to get the last book in the Twilight series, she will probably be reading all night.
Just thought that the request for twilight cakes might start coming in for wedding, birthdays etc. Anyone that has read the books have any good ideas.
If you haven't read it you should even if you are my age and an old fan of the old Dark Shadows series.
I loved Dark Shadows!..."Julia...when you do the experiment..." Remember that? And I love the Twilight series but I am NOT going out at midnight to get the new book. I live in Washington and went to Forks last summer with my daughter just to feel the atmosphere- and I just turned 58!!! I was thinking about cakes also- it probably would be fun to do a cake that is a clue to the story but maybe with some drops of blood - red piping gel?
I haven't read them but they have cool looking covers that would make nice cake designs.
I had a request for one for a graduation cake. I didn't end up doing it because she didn't want fondant and I told her that it wouldn't taste good -- the cover is black with hands holding a red apple, so black and red bc...ew!
I just discovered this series on Monday. I have already bought and read the first two, just bought the third one today, and am currently reading it. Due to budget constraints, the fourth one will have to wait until my next payday.
I think that recreating the covers is the first and most obvious idea, but also, any type of gothic colors/themes could work also.
Ohhh, and maybe a fast car or motorcycle, since the Cullens all like fast cars and Bella has her motorcycle...
This is the first one I've seen. Very pretty.

thanks for the cool picture....my daughter is drooling over it.
And the the 58 year old Dark Shadows fan (I'm 50)....memories are great aren't they....I was always in love with Quentin (David Selby)...rushing home from school to watch everyday at 4:00....My daughter just informed me a remake of dark shadows is coming, Tim Burton is directing and rumor is that Johnny Depp will play Barnabas, he will be a good choice...can't wait.

My daughter is turning 18 next month and loves the Twilight series, so I wanted to do something special for her birthday cake. My daughter Sara is an artist and loved the Twilight book so much that she painted the cover. I have never seen a cake with this theme and thought I'd just take a chance and type in the search for "Twilight". I'm delighted to see that some Twilight cakes are coming out. It was awesome to look at them. My idea is to take Sara's painting and do a FBCT onto a large sheet cake. I will post the picture when it's finished. I hope it turns out.
Here is Sara's painting.

not stupid, but what is a FBCT transfer and how do you do it. you daughter is a great artist, perfect tulip for the twilight cake.
The books are really good! I noticed a movie poster for Twilight (coming out in December), there are some trailers on Youtube too.
Ok Do any of you guys know where I can find silk or gum paste parrot tulips like the New moon one??? My niece is turning 16 in October and I want to make her a Twilight series cake. I can't seem to find them anywhere.

FBCT is a frozen buttercream transfer. I'm still pondering if I can even do a good enough job of it to look good.
It's where you take an image and put it under plexiglass and cover the plexiglass with wax paper, or saran wrap and basically "color" the picture in with buttercream. Freeze it, then flip it over onto your cake and it looks like you painted it on the cake.
There are several really good tutorials here on CC. Here is a pic of a fbct of a chicken I did.
I just had to respond... I don't have any ideas, but wanted to chime in that I too love the books. I'm just about to begin the third when my little girls go down for their naps in a few minutes! The woman at the bookstore told me I was a bit too "old" to be reading them (I'm 31), but they're fantastic!
I had no idea Forks was a real place (I feel a little silly right now).
Charleezgal, the FBCT sounds beautiful with your daughter's picture! Can't wait to see it .
Just an idea has anyone considered trying to do Bella's ring or her bracelet on a cake? They are selling them online now. You can see a really good pictures of them here. http://twilightteez.com/index.php
They also have logo shirts for all the main charters. My son knew each one right away. I think I might put them on his b-day cake since I'm trying to come up with something that isn't to girly, or maybe just cookies with each of the diffrent symbols on them. Just sort of thinking out loud here. His b-day is the day after the movie comes out so that's what him and his friends are all doing. Going to see the movie.
Oooh! I loved those books. i just finished 4 and it was the best of the whole group in my opinion.
Julia
thanks for all the responses....I finally got the book from my daughter, she said I had to get it read before she goes back to college this weekend. I know I saw a tulip mold somewhere I will have to go and search my delicious saves.....oh, yes we do have the t-shirts...and steph myers favorite music and everything...my daughter is a twilight fanatic...I had a class of 14 girls last year in a high school class..one kid read the book, then another, then another...until by the end of the year all but one kid had read all the books, including me...yeah steph myers for keeping us all entertained and interested in creating a cake influenced by twilight...by the way the premier of the movie has been moved up to Nov.21st.
for whoever asked, Global Sugar Art has the cutter for the midi parrot tulip on the twilight book cover. The cutter is 14.99, then I think you would need to buy the tulip veiner to get the details.
Okay, here it is. I was really nervous about doing this, but I think it came out okay. My daughter loved it. Some people at the party didn't quite "get it" with the broken ribbon and the apple, so we had to explain it all to them. Luckily, Sara got the first three hardback books as gifts so we had them there to show everyone.
Let me know what you think.
I am in love with the series as well, and I am going to be doing a cake for a midnight premiere party my friends and I are having. I still don't know quite what I am going to be doing yet, but there are some great ideas here!! Thanks everyone!!
I have to say im 38 and loved the books read all 4 in a week they were awsome. I never actually considered doing a cake using it as a theme though. Guess im not that creative..
Here's a link to one that I posted in the CC gallery.
