Salma is a great actress and producer (she produces Ugly Betty). us "commoners" can't comprehend that kind of money for a cake, but to the elite 1% of the world population its not that much money. keep in mind that the cake is a small % of her budget. I don;t think in relation to other weddings that is so crazy.

1000 dollars to some ppl is 100 bux to others. I can afford nicer/brand name thing where my sister can only afford no name brand items. The more u make the more u spend and its not really any different in the long run expect for the ppl who choose to spend it on more expensive items

ok $50/serving is amazing but this cake is more than $250 a serving!!!!!!!!! 80 you can practically get a whole cake for that amount!

When I took a class with Nick Lodge once he was commenting on puttting wires into cakes and said that he was at an event with a 75K Sylvia cake and it was lemon with some type of lemon liquor in it and the wires rusted in the cake and when they cut it, everyone gasped.
I wish I could afford a 100K cake myself-oh well, maybe in the next life!

All I can say is that whomever is making that cake is going to earn EVERY penny!

It's all relative, folks gasp at what we charge for stuff all the time. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't post in the forums about being told that their price is too expensive.

I just have to add that my sister who lives in LA had her baby at Cedar Sinai the same day that Salma Hayek had her baby....and Salma was right down the hall from my sister's room.
