Thought it would be fun to find out your favourite cake.. the one you have made and the reasoning behind it. Was it your first? Was it because of the peron you were making if for? Was it because it was the hardest cake you have ever attempted?

This is hard I know. Mine is a toss up between my Molly Cake for my niece because this is the first cake I have made that I was really happy with. But them I made a castle cake for my sons birthday today and his reaction when he saw it bought tears to my eyes. He told me Its the best cake in the world I have ever seen!.

So go on tell us what and why is yours

OK I would have to say my Cars cake. It was a dream cake literally. This summer my niece wanted a cars cake for her 5 year old. I was totally stressed over the cake. I researched alot for the cake. I never went to the movie. Only saw clips and the reseach that went behind the scene. I literatlly dreamt this cake. My theme Life is a highway. I took like a ton of pictures NONE of them turned out. And none of the pics they took turned out. I wanted to CRY when the pics didn't turn out. I wanted to recreate the cake. I really didn't have a reason for the waste of cake. Until one of my Great nephews 1 St B-Day and G-Pa was a big Mater fan. So I recreated this cake. Actually I think it turned out better the second time around. I also made a smash cake I am waithing on the pic for it. I also took pics for the cake again. THEY didn't turn out. I thought I was doomed never have any pics of my cake. BUT TA DA I got one from the mom this time icon_biggrin.gif It was my dream.

But the castle cake I made with my DD for her B-Day was also a blast. She totally loved it and helping me. And of course my course 3 final Wedding cake was great. BUT all of my cakes are special to me in one way or another. I created them good or not so good They are my creations thumbs_up.gif I am not an EGO person just proud of what I can accomplish.

Mine definately has to be "Lissi's 1st Birthday cake", It was for my beautiful grandaughter, and my first cake after 10yr of not being able to do them, a close second is the teddy cake, I just loved making them, inspired by aine2's teddies....didd't care too much for my patchwork around it though icon_razz.gif

Ok I just got to look at those cakes katharry. OMG I bet your son was Bawling. Because that tookmy breathaway. And for your son thumbs_up.gif AMAZING is all I can say. My castle cake for my DD was with her help so it was interactive. And she totally loved it. I think her cake decorating party was just as much fun. So picking a cake was very hard for me. I think I picked the cars cake because of what I had to over come. But putting A SMILE ON MY CHILDS FACE IS MORE IMPORTANT icon_biggrin.gif AWESOME CAKE

I think at the moment it would have to be the christening cake I did for my grandson Andrew. It was 3 tiers and had Winnie the Pooh and friends with balloons on it. I'll be making his first birthday cake soon so that will probably be my new favourite in a week or two! icon_lol.gif

The cake that I am most proud of, so far, was my first and only wedding cake. It just all came together just the way I wanted with no major disasters, plus the bride loved it.

As far as just fun to do cakes, I have really had fun making the sculpted dogs and dolphin cakes. I still have so much to learn, but those cakes were really a blast.

Aine2 and katharry----I aspire to be 1/10th as good as either of you. Your cakes are just spectacular!!

I'm so new to this that I have no favourites yet. It's something I aspire too, however, years and years of cakes!!!!!

I have to admit, when a little cupcake design comes out just right, it makes me ridiculously satisfied.

katharry, the castle cake is fantastic, your son must have been thrilled to bits. I love that you are so passionate about cakes and how they come out, I personally find your creations enchanting. You really inspire me. That Molly cake is on the top of my fave-cake listn and is staying there!

Great topic!

Liis I love that cake! You did a fantastic job on the figures for that.

It's so hard to pick one favorite cake. I have favorites of different members. But to pick one is so hard!

My favorite is the little blue toy car cake I made for my sister's grandson. It makes me smile every time I see the picture. He wanted to play with it rather than eat it. icon_biggrin.gif

Mine would be my Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake! I designed it myself for my grandson, and the idea actually worked! That does not happen very often. My grandson just loved it!! He felt bad because his cake looked way better than all the others at Chucky Cheese so he wanted to give some to the other kids, and so we did!

My favorite cake...hmmm....I think that it's definitely the one I made for my sister's shower because I learned so many new things and it all came together well. Or maybe it was my pink first birthday cake? Or my son's superhero campout......

I really do love every cake that I make. Not because they're perfect (cause they're NOT) but because I think about them for so long and plan and work on them. I spend so much time with each one of them before they are even a finished cake.

My favorite cake that I've done is the Friday the 13th cake. It was for my niece, and everyone was so surprised and impressed by that cake. I loved it, and it's the first cake I ever made that my husband volunteered a positive opinion on before I had to drag it out of him.

I have two favs- the 3 tier cow cake for DH's grandpa's 80th birthday and the first cake that I posted here-the charlie brown cake. The Charlie Brown didn't even have a cake board because it was last minute cake but I was proud that it actually looked like the characters.

I don't know that I have just one favorite. I really like any one of the cakes that I do for my kids because those are the ones that I challenge myself the most on--and have the freedom of creativity. So the princess pillow and tiara, the castle and the x-wing fighter/star wars cakes.

My favorite cake hasn't been made yet. It's my daughter's wedding cake and I've waited 25 years to make it. She's giving me free rein as long as it is sky blue and chocolate brown. I have a million and one ideas in my head and have 6 more months to narrow it down. That said, my second favorite was my wedding cake. 26 years ago I helped my grandmother make my wedding cake. It was my first cake attempt. My grandmother was a retired professional decorator and she guided me through every step. She died 3 years later and left me all of her cake decorating supplies. This has always been a special memory to me.

I have two...My daughter's first birthday cake. I really liked that one because it was my first tiered cake, and it was the first cake that I was able to accept compliments on, without saying "Thanks but the writting is not that great" or "The fondant is not smooth". I also really loved the cake I made for my mom for mother's day. She loves dogwood trees so I made a cake with dogwood blossoms on it. My mom loved it...she was showing pictures of the cake to everyone who would look for weeks after.

My favourite is my Yoda cake. I made it for my friends brother and tried something I had not tried before (using chocolate crackle for the head) and it worked really well. Now I have the confidence to try almost anything!

Up until this weekend, I would have said that my favorite cake was "Welcome back Kari An" for my friend that overcame breast cancer; but, I think that my favorites right now are the Make-a-Wish" cakes. The look on the kids' faces when they would look at the cakes made it worth the time and work and mess that went into creating them. I would definitely do it over again!!

My favourite cake is my teddy bear cake. It was something I didn't think I could pull off but I did. Also I am so amazed at how real it looks. The best part was hearing the compliments. I made it for a baby shower and the guests couldn't get over this cake. Some thought it was an actual teddy bear. Then some said does the cake taste as good as it looks. In the end everyone was impressed and I revealled myself as the baker to which many people were surprised as most of them said it's impossible for them to bake - which I beg to differ but I must admit my head was swelling when I kept hearing all the compliments!!!
