I'm very new to the forum and cake decorating, and have fallen in love with all of the ideas and support I've found here so far. I thought I would share a great way I have been able to get some quick orders, relatively easily.
I have an acquaintance that is a realtor, and she's fairly well-established in our community. When she's doing an open house for a higher-end property, she usually brings in some catered food. Other realtors in the area are keen to this, and the house shows well because they look good bringing their clients to a nice venue where there is free food. It's a pretty smart idea...
I offered to 'donate' cakes/cookies etc. to her for these open houses, in exchange for word-of-mouth referrals should anyone ask where the cake/cupcakes/cookies came from. It's worked great so far! I'm getting to try new ideas and techniques on a weekly basis (on a larger scale than my family could reasonably consume) and earning referral business in the process!
Smart....we have "Homearama" here. $1-2 million dollar homes. They do sell food, I wonder if I could buy a booth? Never thought of that.

You are absoultely right. I work for a well know real estate company and the office staff uses me for their luncheons and my business has nearly tripled since then! Also, if you can, contact your local Board Of Realtors and give them a plus- they ususally have a monthly luncheon as well!
